New! Magazine tries Lee’s Vampire Facial
We Tried: The Vampire Facial
We send writer Karmel Doughty’s mum Michelle, 47 to test this new procedure
“Having tried every anti age-ing cream on the market, I’m always up for testing something new – even though I was shocked by the pictures of Kim’s bloodied face!
After a consultation with aesthetic nurse practitioner Lee Garrett at London’s Harley Street Clinic, the procedure began with Lee applying anaesthetic cream to my face, which was left on for 60 minutes. Once my face was numb, Lee extracted blood from my arm – about 60-80ml which was then spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets.
Lee started injecting my forehead, injecting the needle deepest around my eye and mouth area. It felt like hundreds of pinpricks and I could feel the blood dripping down my face, but the pain was bearable. After ten minutes, it was all over. My face was puffy and red for a few hours. The next day, I had bruising around my eyes.
Patients are advised to have three treatments at four to six weekly intervals and then every seven months after that. I’m already starting to notice an improvement to my skin and can’t wait for my second session.”
Cost: £550 per treatment
