What is Tixel?
Are you looking to refresh or tighten your skin or eyelids?
Or maybe you want to reduce the visual sign of acne and other facial scars.
If so the Garrett Clinic is pleased to be able to offer the ground breaking Tixel treatment.
Tixel is the new exciting thermo mechanical ablative technology. It is not a laser, Ultrasound or Radio frequency device. The Tixel treatment uses heat to reduce the damaging effects of ageing to your skin and also has the added benefit of improve acne scars and scars other facial scars in general
Tixel can be compared to a the more commonly used CO2 laser but without the associated recovery time, worry about damage to the skins pigmentation and infection issues. Tixel benefit is that it still produces the same great results but without any of the downsides of other treatments.
Tixel gives great results, smoother skin, can be tailored to any patient with light to dark skin, with no pain.
Tixel can be used for the following:
- Skin Tightening
- Skin Resurfacing
- Drug Delivery
How does Tixel Work?
Your skin gently meets the Tixel applicator for a few seconds and creates micro channels in your skin, these channels heal and pull together tightening up your skin.
The most commonly treated sites are:
- Eyes lids right up to lash line
- Other areas
- Chest (decollete)
- Backs of hands
How often is Tixel Required?
Depends on you but normally 3 to 5 sessions spaced at 6 to 8-week intervals.
What happens during treatment
Treatment takes between 30 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the area which is treated.
An anaesthetic cream is applied to the face for twenty minutes. This minimises any discomfort. Once the skin is adequately numbed, treatment can take place.
How will I look after the treatment?
It does depend on how deep your treatment is and what you want to achieve results wise.
You may look very red and then the next day swollen, 48 hrs after you will have micro crusts and this can be covered, however this is worst case scenario.
What is the recovery period after Tixel treatment?
Again depending you your treatment goal recovery can be from 48 hrs to 7 days.
Why is healing superior with Tixel?
The healing process is faster with Tixel when compared to other technologies such as fractional CO2 laser treatments for two primary reasons.
Firstly, there is much less charring or “carbonisation”. This means that the body does not need to take time to clear away the charred tissue.
The second reason is down to the shape of the Tixel probes. The probes are pyramidal and they leave a triangular or V-shaped indentation. Laser is a solid beam and therefore leaves a U shaped indentation. The time taken for the body to recover is significantly less for a V-shaped than a U-shaped indentation.
